What is a cortado?

Cortado is not globally standardized, but the core idea is consistent: espresso softened with a modest amount of steamed milk so the coffee stays present.

Several café references describe it as roughly equal parts espresso and steamed milk (or close), served smaller than a latte. At Mainline: ‘If you want espresso flavor with a smoother landing, the cortado is the sweet spot.’
